Project context
The intervention focused on improving the functionality of an existing bathroom by replacing the previous bathing arrangement with a shower area better suited to everyday use.
In this type of renovation, the visible finish is only one part of the work. The shower area also needs to be coordinated with the existing drainage, plumbing connections, waterproofing and surrounding wall and floor finishes.
Scope of the renovation
Maceta y Cortafrío carried out the construction works included in the agreed scope of this bathroom renovation.
The intervention centred on the transformation of the shower area and the corresponding adaptation of the surrounding bathroom surfaces and installations required for the new configuration.
Replacing the existing bathing area
Changing an existing bathtub or previous bathing arrangement to a shower is not simply a matter of installing a new shower tray.
The work may require coordination between demolition, drainage levels, plumbing connections, waterproofing and tiling so that the new shower integrates correctly with the existing bathroom.
For that reason, the execution was approached as a coordinated construction intervention rather than as an isolated replacement.
Waterproofing and drainage
The shower area is one of the most demanding parts of a bathroom because it is exposed repeatedly to water.
Correct preparation of the substrate, drainage arrangement and waterproofing of the relevant areas are therefore important parts of the construction process before the final finishes are completed.
Finishes and integration
The new shower area was integrated with the existing bathroom through the corresponding wall and floor finishes within the scope of the renovation.
Attention was given to the alignment of surfaces, joints and transitions so that the intervention formed a coherent part of the completed bathroom.
Documented result
The project was documented to show both the construction process and the completed intervention.
